Biographical Info
Stephanie Peterson, MD is a physician who works with individuals of all ages to provide medical care that both helps her patients to prevent illness and recover from acute and chronic conditions.
Stephanie has had a non-traditional approach to becoming a family physician, earning her master’s degree in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing before choosing to pursue her degree in medicine and later training in medical acupuncture. She believes that an appreciation of our unique physical, mental, and spiritual experiences is essential to the doctor-patient relationship and that this relationship is key to bringing about positive outcomes in health.
After a decade of practicing medicine in the traditional model, Stephanie was captivated by the concept of direct primary care for its ability to bring affordable, accessible, and individualized care to her patients. This led to her integrating functional medicine into her practice and becoming one of the only Lyme Literate Medical Doctors in the region.
Stephanie is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Association of Medical Acupuncturists and the American Academy of Ozonetherapy. She has been trained in the treatment of environmental and tick-borne infections and is a member of the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society. Since 2021 she has been pursuing training in Autonomic Response Testing, having completed ART 1-3 and plans to pursue her Foundational Level Certification as soon as course prerequisites are offered. She studied neural therapy techniques with Dr. Klinghardt in August of 2022 and immediately began utilizing these techniques to bring additional healing to many people with chronic, complex conditions.
A Lincoln native, Stephanie graduated with her Medical Doctor degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas. She also holds a BA in Plan II Honors and BSN from the University of Texas as well as an MSN, also from the University of Texas. She received training in acupuncture from the Helms Medical Institute.
